Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week at Site Equip

National Apprenticeship Week gives us the perfect opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution apprentices make to businesses across the UK — and here at Site Equip, we are proud to celebrate our own talented apprentices.

Across HR, Finance, and Marketing, our apprentices bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic to the workplace every day. While building the foundations of their future careers, they are already making a meaningful impact on our day-to-day operations.

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Amy, Gemma, and Munashe, and sharing their apprenticeship journeys so far.

Amy Baier: Growing Confidence in HR

Amy Baier, our HR Apprentice, has now been with Site Equip for 18 months. During that time, she has become an integral part of our HR function, supporting employee engagement initiatives and employee relations processes.

Amy’s journey highlights exactly what apprenticeships are designed to do — combine hands-on experience with structured learning to support real career growth.

Overcoming Challenges and Building Expertise

When asked about the most challenging part of her apprenticeship, Amy shared:

“Writing documents – I find it hard to know what details to include and not include. Learning employment law was also challenging. I used to know nothing about it, but now I can talk about the different laws.”

Through dedication and practical experience, Amy has developed both her technical knowledge and professional confidence.

A Boost in Confidence

Reflecting on her growth, Amy explained:

“When I started, I didn’t know anything about the assignments on my apprenticeship course, but now I understand so much. It really showed me how much I’ve grown.”

A standout moment in her journey was winning the Above and Beyond Award at the Site Equip Awards 2025 — a fantastic achievement and recognition of her hard work.

Today, Amy feels particularly confident completing witness statements and takes pride in positive feedback from others on her course.

The Power of Mentorship

Amy credits Adam Lockyer, Managing Director at Site Equip and her mentor, as being highly influential in her development:

“He’s always there to help and give feedback, which has made me feel much more confident working within the HR department.”

Amy’s Advice

“It’s the way to go. You move forward with your career faster because you gain experience while learning.”

Gemma: From College to Finance Career

Gemma joined Site Equip in July 2025 as our Finance Apprentice, moving directly from college into accounting with no prior experience. What began as a completely new challenge has quickly turned into an exciting journey of growth.

Choosing Apprenticeship Over University

Gemma felt university wasn’t the right path for her and wanted to gain practical experience straight away.

“I didn’t feel like university was the right path for me.”

After meeting our Finance Director during her interview, she knew Site Equip was the right environment — thanks to the welcoming team and positive atmosphere.

A Typical Day in Finance

Gemma starts her day by checking emails before moving on to responsibilities such as:
• Answering finance queries
• Sending invoices
• Processing payments

Her role demands accuracy, organisation, and strong attention to detail — all skills she continues to develop every day.

Early Challenges and Rapid Growth

Starting with no accounting knowledge was her biggest challenge. Transitioning straight from college into a finance role meant quickly learning new systems, terminology and processes.

With guidance from her mentor, Heinrich Weiss, Gemma’s confidence has grown significantly:

“His guidance and consistent feedback have helped me grow in confidence within the finance team.”

Looking Ahead

Gemma hopes to become fully independent in her role and continue expanding her accounting knowledge as she progresses within her career.

Her advice to others?

“You get into the work environment faster than uni, and it’s less scary.”

Munashe Chivaviro: Creativity in Marketing

Munashe, our Marketing Apprentice, has been with Site Equip for one month — and has already made a strong impression.

Eager to explore whether marketing was the right long-term path for her, Munashe chose an apprenticeship to gain hands-on experience.

“The apprentice position with Site Equip involved everything I love doing, and after interviewing, I was determined to join the team.”

A Creative and Collaborative Role

Munashe’s days typically involve:
• Content writing
• Creating graphic designs
• Brainstorming marketing ideas
• Collaborating with her mentor

She begins each morning reviewing her task list and planning her priorities for the day.

Learning Through Challenge

Her biggest challenge so far?

“Thinking of fresh content to write and deciding what graphic designs work best.”

However, regular feedback and collaboration have helped her refine her skills and build confidence quickly.

Munashe highlights both her mentor, James Mohan, and Sales Executive Kayleigh Butler as being instrumental in helping her understand Site Equip’s services and how to market them effectively.

Munashe’s Advice

“If you’re not sure about going to university, then I recommend doing an apprenticeship. You get the chance to gain experience and learn new skills, all while making money.”

Investing in the Future

As we wrap up National Apprenticeship Week, we are incredibly proud of the commitment, enthusiasm, and progress demonstrated by Amy, Gemma, and Munashe.

Their journeys reflect the true value of apprenticeships — practical experience, structured development, mentorship, and real responsibility from day one.

At Site Equip, we remain committed to supporting apprenticeships and nurturing future talent. We look forward to seeing our apprentices continue to grow, develop, and build long-term careers with us.

Happy National Apprenticeship Week from everyone at Site Equip! 🎉
