20ft Welfare Unit Hire for Up to 16 Operatives

Our 20ft Welfare Unit Hire provides large, self-contained welfare facilities for construction teams of up to 16 operatives. It suits larger building sites, civil engineering projects, infrastructure works, utilities, demolition, groundworks and long-term construction projects.

The unit includes a spacious mess area with seating for up to 14 operatives, plus a separate site office for up to 2 people. It also includes drying space, warm-water washing facilities, a worktop area, hard-wired microwave and kettle, and a recirculating chemical toilet.

Available from £300 per week, this towable welfare unit gives larger teams practical site welfare and office space in one secure cabin. Customers can order online 24/7 and earn Site Loyal Points on qualifying hires.

Large Welfare Facilities for Construction Sites

The 20ft welfare unit is designed for sites that need more internal space than a 12ft or 16ft model. It combines worker welfare, drying space and site office facilities in one mobile unit.

This makes it suitable for:

  • Large construction sites
  • Long-term building projects
  • Infrastructure and utilities works
  • Civil engineering sites
  • Demolition projects
  • Commercial construction
  • Groundworks
  • Remote and temporary workplaces

The unit helps reduce the need for multiple separate cabins by combining key site facilities into one larger welfare setup.

What Does the 20ft Welfare Unit Include?

Each 16 Man Welfare Unit Hire includes practical facilities for daily construction site use:

  • Mess area with seating for up to 14 operatives
  • Separate site office for up to 2 people
  • Worktop area
  • Hard-wired microwave and kettle
  • Stainless steel sink with warm-water tap
  • Forearm wash basin with warm-water tap
  • Recirculating chemical toilet
  • 135-litre toilet tank
  • Drying space with coat hooks
  • Air-blown heating system
  • 12V LED lighting with PIR
  • Two socket points
  • Carbon monoxide monitor and smoke alarm
  • 6kVA diesel generator with exhaust venting
  • 58-litre diesel tank
  • 200-litre fresh-water tank
  • 220-litre waste-water tank
  • High-security window shutters
  • Secure double-lock door
  • Secure nose cone
  • All-steel construction
  • Galvanised chassis

This gives larger site teams the space and facilities needed for breaks, washing, drying, office work and chemical toilet use.

Mess Area, Office and Drying Space

The mess area provides seating for up to 14 operatives, giving workers a practical space for rest breaks and meals. The worktop area, hard-wired microwave and kettle support daily food and drink preparation.

The separate office accommodates up to 2 people and gives site managers, supervisors or admin staff a dedicated workspace. This helps larger projects keep welfare and site management close together without hiring a separate office cabin.

The drying space includes coat hooks and heating, helping workers store wet workwear and PPE during colder or wetter site conditions.

Power, Water and Recirculating Chemical Toilet

The unit uses a 6kVA diesel generator with exhaust venting. The generator powers the welfare unit’s lighting, heating, sockets, water system and hard-wired appliances.

The customer supplies and refills the diesel during the hire. The unit includes a 58-litre fuel tank, low-fuel protection and overload warnings.

The welfare unit also includes a 200-litre fresh-water tank and a 220-litre waste-water tank. Site Equip does not supply drinking water, so customers must provide drinking water separately for operatives.

The recirculating chemical toilet includes a 135-litre toilet tank, helping the unit operate on temporary sites without mains drainage.

Weekly Chemical Toilet Servicing Included

Every hire includes one weekly service for the recirculating chemical toilet. Our service team removes effluent, recharges chemicals, replenishes toilet roll, soap and paper towels, and carries out a basic clean of the toilet compartment.

Because this 20ft welfare unit supports up to 16 operatives, we recommend twice-weekly servicing for busier sites. The second weekly service is available for an additional £45, subject to availability.

Fresh-water replenishment does not come included as standard. Customers can arrange additional water visits where required, subject to availability and extra charges.

Groundhog and AJC Welfare Units

Our 20ft Welfare Unit Hire fleet includes trusted welfare-unit brands such as Groundhog and AJC, depending on stock and availability.

We choose each unit for construction site use, secure anti-vandal design and reliable performance on temporary worksites.

Designed to Support Construction Welfare

The 20ft welfare unit helps contractors provide suitable welfare facilities for larger construction teams. It combines rest space, washing facilities, drying space, office accommodation and a recirculating chemical toilet in one towable unit.

The correct welfare setup depends on your workforce size, site layout, working hours and project type. Larger or high-use sites may need additional portable toilets, extra servicing, waste tanks or separate site accommodation.

16 Person Welfare Unit Hire: Standard or Solar 20ft Welfare Unit?

The standard 20ft Welfare Unit Hire and Solar 20ft Welfare Unit Hire both suit larger sites, but they have different priorities.

Option Best for
20ft Welfare Unit Hire Sites needing maximum capacity, office space and generator-powered welfare facilities
Solar 20ft Welfare Unit Hire Sites looking to reduce generator runtime, fuel use and operational noise

Choose the standard 20ft unit when capacity, office space and weekly hire cost are the main priorities.

Choose the Solar 20ft Welfare Unit Hire when your project has fuel-reduction, noise or sustainability targets.
