To support the Department of Work and Pensions in their current campaign to recognise women in construction, our Sales and Marketing Manager, Amy Gilbert, has got together with HAE (Hire Association Europe). You will see lots of news stories on twitter through #getbritianworking. Since winning ‘New Starter of the Year’ at the Hire Awards back in April Amy has been encouraging women into the hire industry, ensuring that it is a viable career path for young women. ‘I would like to see women who have succeeded within the construction industry to mentor those who are coming through the ranks. This is something we try to encourage at Site Equip, providing mentors if possible.’
It would be great if seeing women on construction sites was the norm and not something of a surprise. Site Equip and Amy hope to work with the construction industry using apprenticeships and training to encourage more young women to follow the construction career path.
