British Library Covid Test Centre Case Study

British Library Covid Test Centre Case Study

During the global pandemic, it was paramount that the general public was able to get tested for COVID19 safely and efficiently. Working with The Francis Crick Institute, Site Equip provided Site Accommodation so staff on site were able to stay safe between tests.

“The Francis Crick Institute is an independent organisation funded by the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Wellcome, UCL, Imperial College London and King’s College London.  Opened in 2016 we are dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections and neurodegenerative diseases.”

Supporting the NHS During the Covid-19 Pandemic

In challenging times, communities unite, and from March 2020. The Crick mobilized to assist the NHS through rapid Covid-19 testing and a drive-through swabbing centre. Responding swiftly to the pandemic, the Crick adjusted its operations to enable essential laboratory testing.

Drive-Through Swabbing Centre Collaboration

In April 2020, the Crick partnered with UCLH and the British Library to establish a drive-through Covid-19 swabbing centre in the British Library car park. This initiative allowed thousands of NHS staff to submit swab samples directly from their vehicles.  Ensuring quick testing at the Crick and returning staff to the front lines. Remarkably, the swabbing centre went from concept to operation in just 10 days. To support this initiative, Site Equip supplied two trailer units at short notice, providing crucial mobile office space for NHS administrative and nursing teams.

Responsive Service Throughout 14 Months

Over 14 months, the swabbing centre served over 8,000 NHS staff and patients, offering a safe and accessible testing process. Throughout this period, Site Equip responded quickly to requests for modifications. Including air conditioning and other adjustments to meet the team’s changing needs.

British Library- Gratitude from the Logistics Team

James Fawsitt, Logistics Manager, commended Site Equip for their adaptability and quick response, noting. “Without Site Equip’s willingness to assist at short notice, and their flexibility in addressing our evolving requirements. Implementing this project would have been much more challenging. We thank Site Equip for their assistance.”

This collaboration reflects Site Equip’s commitment to supporting essential services and providing adaptable solutions during critical times.
