As we welcome in a fresh New Year we would like to reflect on Site Equip’s 2018 best bits, our most successful year to date. Here are our 2018 best bits!
Site Equip’s 2018 Best Bits
January
Our director Amy Gilbert and Depot Manager Neil Hardiman successfully completed two Specialist Upskilling Programmes and have been awarded an NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Tool and Equipment Hire Managers – Hire Rental Operations as well as Supervising Hire and Rental Operations – Equipment, Plant and Tools (Construction).
February
In February we exhibited at at the Event Production Show and had been secret shopped and voted as a top ten exhibitor down to our enthusiastic sales team, innovative stand design, pro-active pre-show marketing and on the ball follow-ups!
We also welcomed our brand new 20ft welfare unit to our growing fleet.
March
We added our brand new Renault 3,000 gallon tanker to our fleet, providing wet waste removal for a range of different facilities such as drilling slurry, sludges and leachates, septic tanks, cesspits, toilet blocks, large water refills and much more.
We featured in the March edition of Open Air Magazine with our themed toilet trailers including our brand new Shabby Chic trailer, luxury toilet trailers and our six bay shower trailers, all supplied to VET Festival in Loseley Park, Guildford.
We visited the Kent Showground for Agri-Expo and seemed to be successful in growing new business to our Paddock Wood depot. We also won The Chris Smith Award for Best New Exhibitor!
April
In April we introduced our brand new Vacuum Toilet Pods and Shower Pods, a luxurious and eco-friendly option for event organisers as they use significantly less water than the industry standard and 3 pods can fit onto one load therefore saving on transportation costs and reducing carbon emissions.
We supplied our 20 man urinal trailer to Farnham Beerex in which around 5,000 people enjoyed a variety of beers across a 3 day event. There was as many as 60 beers available and were enjoyed along with a great range of ciders, perries, food and music! (Our team were very impressed!)
Following extensive preparations, research and deliberation, we had the absolute pleasure of being chosen as one of the champions for the 2018 UK Enterprise Awards hosted by SME-News and were the winners of both Luxury Toilet Trailer Providers of The Year 2018 & Best in Event Portable Toilet Hire!
May
In May we created a pay as you go posh loo area for Bournemouth 7’s festival for people who favoured a home from home style toilet. The option was given for a weekend or day wristband or pay as you go. We used our brand new luxury vacuum 6 bay toilet pods for the posh loos, these offered a sleek, luxury alternative to the main festival loos.
We featured in the May 2018 issue of Stand Out Magazine all about The Big Half which took place during the infamous snowy weekend back in March! We supplied the toilets for the one-day event, which offers a host of running distances from a challenging half marathon to a free one-mile course, as well as a family-friendly festival of food, music and activities. Despite the weather, our fantastic team were able to set up the eco loos, disabled loos, luxury toilet trailers, 4 man peepods, trackway and more.
Our director Amy Gilbert featured in Open Air Magazine’s May issue as an industry legend! In an interview with the magazine, Amy discusses her background in events, the history of Site Equip and Site Event and exciting plans for the future.
June
Site Equip feature in South East Farmer about our new large investment in waste disposal. Building on our reputation as a leading supplier of welfare and sanitation to the agricultural community, Site Equip has recently invested £200,000 in a new waste disposal division – Site Waste.
July
In July we were very honoured to be a part of this special day celebrating 100 years of the RAF, we have provided our brand new 6 bay luxury vacuum toilet pods, which were built by Site Build. These are the newest toilets in our fleet and are vacuum powered, which means no smells, no chemicals and fresh water.
We introduced our brand new Luxury Disabled Wet Room to our fleet. The wet room combines a toilet and a shower in one easily accessible unit. It also comes equipped with a baby change facility, making it the perfect multi functional unit for any event.
August
On the first weekend of August we welcomed in our biggest weekend ever with over 2,500 toilets on hire across the South of England!
We provided event toilets for a variety of events including the family-friendly music and arts Wickham Festival, the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Thruxton Circuit, The UK’s largest Muslim festival, Jalsa Salana and one of our oldest customers, Brighton Pride.
Brighton Pride is the biggest Pride event in the UK, and this year the main event attracted over 57,000 people from the LGBT community with the main headliner Britney Spears bringing Brighton to a standstill. We supplied 500 toilets, over 300 urinals & 10 VIP toilet trailers, they also chose to run a family day on the Sunday for the first time. For us this meant a very tight window to service the toilets before the next day.
September
In September we took part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning – The world’s biggest coffee morning which saw £25,613,923 raised in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. We baked some delicious goods including marmite and cheese swirls, banana and walnut loaf, courgette and spinach muffins, sausage rolls, marshmallow crispy cakes, chorizo and bacon quiche, to name a few! We all donated towards the cause, which helps fund Macmillan nurses, provide cancer information and answer calls on Macmillan Support Line.
We featured in the September issue of Stand Out Magazine which highlighted some of the fantastic events which we had the pleasure of providing for, including Goodwood Festival of Speed, VET Festival, Black Deer Festival and Pub in The Park.
We exhibited at the South East Construction Expo near Haywards Heath and with our depots in Hampshire and Kent, this expo landed right in the middle of our coverage across the South East!

October
October of 2018 was a very special year for us as we celebrated 30 years in the hiring industry! delivering an outstanding service, hiring portable toilets, site accommodation, luxury toilet trailers, mobile showers, fencing and trackway to the event and construction industries.We exhibited at the Kent Construction Expo, the largest gathering of construction industry professionals, contractors and suppliers in the South East.
We exhibited at the most prestigious event in an event organisers calendar – The Showman’s Show! Not only did we exhibit but we also supplied the event with all of the mobile toilets for the outside area, using our award winning Brewery Toilet Trailer, our luxury 3+1 along with our larger trailers suitable for large events.
We got into the Halloween spirit and created some not-so-spooky pumpkins! 1st Place went to the menacing toilet roll eating pumpkin, carved by Mark S, Mark O & Malcolm B!
November
In November we supported Children In Need, a charity which helps make a difference to children’s lives across the UK. All employee’s took part in entering the ‘Duck Race’ annual sweepstake for a small donation, plus also baking some fantastic Children In Need cakes which went down a treat!
December
In December we had been shortlisted in the Best Toilets/Waste Management category for the Festival Supplier Awards 2019. The dedicated awards evening will be held in London’s Hurlingham Club on Thursday 31st January 2019, with an evening comprising of food, drink and entertainment to recognise and celebrate the achievements and hard work of outdoor event and festival suppliers.Adam Gilbert was promoted to Sales Manager, Go Adam!
We were pleased to announce that for yet another year running we are Loo Of The Year Award Winners! This year we have walked away with a Platinum award for our Luxury Brewery Toilet Trailer!
We celebrated Christmas Jumper Day 2018 in aid of Save the Children – an international charity to help create a brighter future for children around the world. All staff members participated by wearing a Christmas jumper and donating £2 towards the charity.
We received SafeHire certification on account of our excellent standards and highly trained workforce!
After the success of last year we decided to bring back the Site Equip Awards, making it our new annual tradition! The Site Equip Awards ceremony is our way of giving recognition and appreciation to our members of staff who have gone above and beyond their duties throughout the year.
That concludes Site Equip’s 2018 Best Bits! We’ve had such an amazing 2018 and look forward to seeing what the new year brings us!
