As the winter is now firmly over and Summer is just around the corner we will be talking about the best Spring Festivals!
First up we have the Shepley Spring Festival in Hudderfield! The festival has a full weekend worth of events focusing on the traditional music including morris dancing, song sessions, celilidhs & even dance workshops. It is located in the heart of the Yorkshire Pennines & surrounded by beautiful scenery giving the festival a very quaint feel. Camping is allowed with caravans, camper vans & tents all accommodated for on site however rain is a certain most years so be brave!
The Bearded Theory Festival based in Walton upon Trent is in it’s 9th year this year & will be attempting a world record for the most amount of people wearing fancy dress beards in one place at one time! What a day to be alive! Not only this but they have a fantastic line up with bands such as; The levellers, Billy Bragg & Beans on Toast plus many more. It is very child friendly festival which will be extending their children village this year & has the only OFSTED-approved onsite school for the duration of the festival what more could you want??
Finally, we bring you the big one & by big one we mean Radio 1’s Big weekend landing in on the last bank holiday in May this late early Summer Spring festival features a star-studded line-up that even Glastonbury would struggle to compete with. The event is runs in a different location every year and this year takes it to the Powerderham Castle down in Exeter, home to Coldplay who will be headlining on the Sunday night. This two day event featuring some of the biggest acts in the UK is unbelievably free, but that’s if you can actually get the tickets.
The best spring festivals in the UK this summer, we look forward to seeing you there!
