2016 saw the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival held from 11th – 22nd May. With an abundance of A-list attendees and being one of the most notable dates on the international film calendar, few events rival the sartorial spectacle and star power of Cannes Film Festival. The lineup was as strong as ever with filmmakers including Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Bruno Dumont and many, many more all presenting new films at the most prestigious event on the film calendar.
The jury headed by Australian filmmaker George Miller handed the top prize, the Palme d’Or, to British director Ken Loach’s furious anti-austerity drama ‘I, Daniel Blake’. This years top 10 which are set to be big hits are the following:
