As Halloween and Fireworks night have passed, the evenings have gotten darker and colder, it’s quite hard to avoid that Christmas is just around the corner. We have decided to begin our flurry of festive blog posts with this month’s event spotlight on Christmas Markets.
There are few better ways to find some festive gifts and get into the Christmas spirit than visiting Christmas markets. We’re struggling to think of better ways to spend a winter Sunday than strolling around a Christmas market with friends or family, and of course – some mulled wine. Fancy visiting a Christmas market? Here are our suggestions!
Winchester Christmas Market
The Winchester Christmas Market is a must-visit! The Christmas market is set in the beautiful grounds of the Cathedral, where the wooden chalets create a border of Christmas gifts and food around the open-air ice rink. There is an abundance of hand-crafted, unique gifts and a host of festive food that is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. The Winchester Christmas market began on Monday 20th November and runs up until Friday 22nd December, so plenty of time to visit if you’re local to the area.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
The hugely popular Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is the perfect place for a day out if you’re looking to immerse yourself in all things *Christmas*. There is a multitude of festive sights such as Magical Ice Kingdom, Zippos Circus, a Giant Observation Wheel as well as a traditional German Christmas market and an Angels Christmas market which boasts more unusual items. Admission to Winter Wonderland is free but some of the attractions to require a paid-for ticket. Winter Wonderland began on Friday 17th November and runs until New Years Day, it is closed on Christmas day.
Canterbury Christmas Market
The beautiful Canterbury Christmas Market is held in Whitefriars Square. The market features dozens of colourful cabins filled with festive gifts, most of which handmade by local artisans. Stroll down Whitefriars Street to surround in the rich Christmas smells of roasted Chestnuts and Bratwurst! Canterbury Christmas Market runs from Saturday 25th November up until Christmas Eve.
