Snow problem! Site Event feature in the May 2018 issue of Stand Out Magazine all about The Big Half!
Back in March, we supplied the toilets for The Big Half in London. If you didn’t run in the Big Half, you may still remember the weekend it took place – but for a different reason. It was of course, the weekend it snowed across England! But that was “snow problem” for the team and runners at the Big Half who braved the great British weather! In fact, more than 11,000 runners from across the country took part in the race!
The idea for The Big Half came about in Autumn of 2015, where a decision was made to utilise the marathon course and create an amazing half marathon on a much larger scale and sizer than other half marathons. A decision was made for a reduced entry price of £10 and to start the race in Tower Hamlets and finish it in Greenwich, rather than Westminster – giving the race the community vibe that the team were aiming for. With this in mind, The Big Festival was created at the finishing point in Greenwich Park. Andrew Smith, the event director of The Vitality Big Half, reflected that “The Big Festival celebrated diversity; we had a range of music that is so vibrant in London and we encouraged community groups and sports clubs to get involved too.”
Our Site Event loos were positioned in Greenwich Park, where the Big Festival took place. Despite the weather, our fantastic team were able to set up the eco loos, disabled loos, luxury toilet trailers, 4 man peepods, trackway and more.
