We are pleased to announce that Treloar Trust is Site Equip’s Charity of the Year for 2022!
Treloar Trust is the UK’s leading centre for severely disabled children and young people, Treloar’s offers outstanding teaching and learning, professional care and therapy, and enduring support and guidance so that every individual can live, learn, achieve and work towards a future that is as independent as possible.
The students at Treloar’s are contending with the most complex physical disabilities and unfortunately with those disabilities comes further conditions such as learning difficulties, visual impairment, no verbal communication, medical and dietary issues, lack of social awareness, mental health problems and life-limiting conditions.
The following gives an indication of the complexity of our students’ needs:• 100% of our students are wheelchair users;• 95% have speech, language and communication challenges;• 51% are non-verbal or require support from Augmentative and Alternative Communication equipment;• 27% have a visual impairment; and• 20% have a life-limiting condition.
Founded in 1907, our Nursery, School and College offers 170 children and young adults who are aged between 2 and 25 years a unique and specialist environment where education works alongside therapy and care. This holistic approach sees the teachers, transition staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, medical staff, dieticians, visual impairment advisers, counsellors, technicians and engineers working as one to support every individual and ensure that they achieve all that they can in life.
As part of our partnership Site Equip pledge to provide Treloar Trust with free toilet hire for 2022, fundraise for them throughout the year, and provide 1 paid day of volunteering for every Site Equip employee.
