Site Equip’s Charity of this year is Treloar’s Trust, as part of our partnership we held a volunteering day for a selection of our employees.
Treloar’s Trust is the UK’s leading centre for severely disabled children and young people, aged 2 to 25. Their aim is to prepare each of these individuals for adult life by giving them the confidence to reach for the stars and achieve their full potential.
Treloar’s Trust was founded in 1907 and offers 170 children and young adults a specialist environment where they receive education, therapy and health care. Treloar’s is made up of not just teachers but also a wide variety of specialist staff; including physiotherapists and visual impairment advisers. Each member plays a key role in each student’s care and development.
Volunteer Day at Treloar’s Trust
A group of our staff volunteered at Treloar’s to garden in their plaza and sensory area. The group spent the day weeding the plants outside the reception and tidying up the patio area to neaten up the pavements and create a more accessible area for the students.
Leonie Jackson, Treloar Trust’s Corporate Fundraiser, comments ‘We are extremely grateful to your team of volunteers, who gave a day of their time to help with maintaining our site. Although, the weather wasn’t kind, but this didn’t put you off! As soon as the rain eased you were out in the piazza weeding and tidying with enthusiasm! The work carried out in the Sensory Garden is particularly valuable as it not only makes it look nicer, but also improves safety and accessibility for our students, most of whom are wheelchair users. It was a pleasure to have you here, and please pass on our heartfelt thanks to the team.’
Adam Gilbert, Director, exclaims ‘The volunteering day at Treloar’s was a great time for the team, who spent the day pulling up weeds and tidying the gardens at the School for disabled children. Our team of 8 enthusiastic team members made a huge difference to the gardens, and I’m sure the children will be delighted when they come back from their half-term break.’
