Site Equip reflects on a successful 2016. It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since I was last sitting here gazing at the office Christmas decorations and looking forward to the holidays. It has flown by and yet so much has happened.
I am told that, had I bet on Leicester winning the Premiership, the UK voting out of the EU and Donald Trump being elected to the Whitehouse, I would be a multi-millionaire by now. However, I have never been one to gamble and would prefer to put my money on a safer bet, such as Site Equip being named ‘Portable Toilet Hire Company of the Year 2016’ by the UK Build Construction and Engineering Awards. An excellent decision, I must say!
We have seen a few personnel changes, most notably the retirement of Lyn Speed from the Site Event team after 18 years of loyal service. Lyn will be a hard act to follow and we look forward to her frequent visits with cakes! Adam Gilbert is the new face of luxury toilet hire and a very nice face it is too.
We have welcomed Rob Holder to the transport team. He is doing a sterling job working with our drivers and sorting out any service queries. Fortunately they are very rare so that doesn’t take up too much of his time (service queries that is, not drivers).
With the Brexit decision we were left wondering how that would potentially affect our business. It is early days but so far we have seen no ill effects, in fact we have over 150 more toilets out on hire today than we did this time last year which is amazing. Big thanks to all our customers, new and old. It is great to see them all flourishing and growing their businesses as ours grows with them. Long may it continue.
We have invested heavily in our Site Equip construction hire fleet. Our older Welfare Units have been put out to pasture and are enjoying their well-deserved retirement. We look forward to welcoming a new fleet of shiny, brand new welfare units early into the New Year once they have been weaned. We know our customers will enjoy having them on their sites. We are also awaiting delivery of 200 brand new portable chemical toilets which will be coming to a site near you soon!
In terms of new product offerings, we can now supply Trackway on a dry hire basis from stock and this is already proving to be very popular. With our climate set to become warmer and wetter, this can only be a growing market.
Our Kent depot, which opened in 2015, is now flourishing and we have doubled our staff over the past year to keep up with the growing demand. If you are in Kent, East Sussex or Essex and haven’t tried us, you don’t know what you are missing!
So, as the year draws to a close, it just remains for me to wish all our customers a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the staff at Site Equip, Site Event and Site Build. We look forward to working with you in 2017.
