Welcome to the next in our series of getting to know the Site Equip team! Today we meet one of Site Equip’s longest-running employees, Russell Taylor!
Which part of the company do you work for? Site Equip, Site Event, Site Build or Site Waste?
All of the above, but mainly Site Equip and Site Event.
Please explain what you do in a few sentences!
Everything. Whatever is required. Simple as that.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
The trouble is it’s all of it! I think my favourite event, without a shadow of a doubt, is Brighton Pride. It always has been! I have been doing it for years, so, I know what they need and what is to be expected and I can deliver the event above and beyond. If that radio is on, I get the call and the issue is fixed before the issue is acknowledged. That is my favourite, the whole team, everyone there is lovely. This is a bonus of the job. I’m still learning all the time which I like. I love everything about the job and I have for a long time. There’s not a bad thing here. The management has been absolutely brilliant to me here, all four of them.
How have things changed since you first started?
It’s busier, a hundredfold busier, easily. when I first started we had maybe 300 toilets including event and construction and 15 or 16 units in total. They have all now been replaced with newer versions and now we have a fleet of 180 trailer units plus the welfare units taking that to over 250 trailers! and nearly 3,000 plastic toilets, plus two new depots (Kent & Stotfold), even more trucks.
What do you do to unwind?
Sit in the garden, chill out, have a beer and go to bed, the same as I do after a big event. I unwind more now than I used to.
What’s your party trick?
I have been known to do some drag!
What’s your biggest achievement within the company?
They have put me through for my class 2 driving license. I see everything here as an achievement, but I see my love for the company as my biggest achievement. It’s a family and you get what you put in. I’ve got pride in the company.
Anything exciting coming up?
Yeah, the events. I’m looking forward to that. I love the events. I’m looking forward to Bournemouth 7’s and Brighton Pride.
Why should someone come and work for Site Equip?
Pure and simply because the management is approachable, whatever your issue – personal or work. If they can, they will help you 100% and we are the best. There’s no question of it. When we are at an event or construction site we work the hardest to deliver the best possible service. It’s as simple as that. It’s a team and everyone is happy to help. Geoff (MD) has instilled the love of the company in me.
