World Portable Sanitation Day on 15th August 2015 will be the 2nd year the day has been celebrated. This day announced by PSAI (The Portable Sanitation Association International) will raise awareness of the importance of adequate sanitation around the world. The The World Health Organization estimates that 2.5 billion people globally lack access to adequate sanitation.
Portable sanitation saves an estimated 125 million gallons of fresh water each day – nearly 46 billion gallons per year and are environmentally friendly, as waste water is recycled, and solid waste is often applied in fields to nourish the land and fertilize crops. The portable sanitation industry can play an integral role in addressing some of the biggest challenges when it comes to providing adequate sanitation, as mains connect toilets required large infrastructure of sewer systems and rely on water, which can be limited.
