A Day In The Life Of Our Construction Team! The team speak about what a ‘typical day’ is like here at Site Equip! They all predominately work in our head office in Lasham, Hampshire.
What Does A Day In The Life Of Our Construction Team Look Like?
To start the day, the first thing we do on a Monday is crunch the numbers to motivate us for the week, we take a look at our sales call and figures, find out what we have left available to hire and then try and beat the following week! (With plenty of success!) We all then work our way through our emails, for our Account Manager, Bex, this is a long and enjoyable process, as she has many orders awaiting! Throughout the day New Business Executive, Steve, is hammering away on the phone speaking to prospects enquiring as to whether they would be interested in hiring any of our portable welfare or sanitation.
We all spend the majority of the day speaking to clients, advising on site welfare and sanitation requirements, creating quotes, and booking orders via the phone, email and via our online chat. A key requirement of being on a busy hire desk is high attention to detail, to ensure our customers have a seamless experience from quote to collection.
What Do You Individually Do?
Bex is our Account Manager for the construction department, her role is more specifically dealing with our existing customers, putting together quotes, dealing with issues from unhappy customers (not that we have many!), arranging cross-hires and completing all admin tasks such as logging customer calls and notes on our software system and dealing with invoices. Bex also looks after our Landmarc account, which is our MOD contract, this involves placing all the orders, answering any delivery and collection queries which might come up and doing the invoicing at the end of every month.
Steve contacts new customers and enquiring as to whether they would be interesting in hiring any of our portable welfare units. He also contacts existing customers who we’ve not heard from in a while or may have gone with another supplier, and will try to negotiate a better solution. Steve also makes customer visits, making sure everything is running smoothly on their site and ensuring they are completely satisfied with their service, and attends construction shows to meet new potential clients.
What Is Your Top Skill?
‘I would say my top skill would be the speed of which I can process orders and I’m pretty handy on our software syrinx, which I can wizz around!’ Bex, Account Manager.
‘I would say my top skills are negotiating, customer service, account management and not taking a no for an answer’ Steve, New Business Executive.

What Do You Enjoy About The Role?
‘I would like to say Landmarc invoicing however every month it’s still a challenge. My favourite part of this job is speaking to our construction customers, you can always have a laugh and a joke with them and after being here for nearly 5 years I’ve got to know a lot of them very well and look forward to speaking to them to catch up. I also secretly really enjoy Landmarc, it’s a lot of admin but rewarding every month when you can invoice.’ Bex, Account Manager.
‘The part I enjoy about the role is where I have worked on a new prospect and they finally open an account and place the first hire. So I enjoy the chase and winning new business!’ Steve, New Business Executive.
