During the global pandemic, it was paramount that the general public was able to get tested for COVID19 safely and efficiently. Working with The Francis Crick Institute, Site Equip provided Site Accommodation so staff on site were able to stay safe between tests.
“The Francis Crick Institute is an independent organisation funded by the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK (CRUK), Wellcome, UCL, Imperial College London and King’s College London. Opened in 2016 we are dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections and neurodegenerative diseases.”
”Difficult times have always pushed people to come together and unite efforts to enable fast and effective problem-solving. In a similar fashion from March 2020 and as a combined response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Crick quickly changed its modus operandi in order to support the NHS with rapid Covid-19 laboratory testing and implementation of a drive-through swabbing centre.”
”In April 2020 an initiative saw a collaboration between the Crick, UCLH and the British Library to establish a drive-through Covid-19 swabbing centre at the British Library car park (neighbouring the Crick), enabling thousands of NHS staff to give swab samples from within their vehicle for rapid testing at the Crick, getting them back on the front line, ensuring NHS resilience. From conception to implementation and first tests took a mere 10 days. During this frantic period Site Equip provided two trailer units at short notice, to central London, in order to provide mobile office space for the NHS administrative and nursing teams. Throughout the 14 months of operation Site Equip were excellent in responding to numerous requests, varying from requests for air conditioning, to permission to make adaptations to the units.”
”In the 14 months of operation, more than 8,000 NHS staff and patients have regularly used the Covid test centre for swab testing from the safety of their car.”
”Without Site Equip’s willingness to assist at short notice, and excellent flexibility and understanding of our changing requirements at a time when decision making was being influenced daily, the implementation of this project would have been much more difficult.”
”We thank Site Equip for their assistance”.
