A Day In The Life Of Site Equip Drivers and Servicing Team! We speak with Rob, one of our drivers about what a ‘typical day’ is like on the road and at our customers sites.
What Does A Day In The Life Of Site Equip Drivers Look Like?
My day begins by ensuring I have all my stock to carry out my services; toilet roll, hand towels, soap re-fills, blue, deodoriser, cloths, petrol for my engine before I head out on the road. I’ll carry out a daily vehicle check to ensure that my vehicle is road legal and in full working order and then when I’m on the road I attend each job in the order that it’s been routed, once on site I empty the effluent, replenish the water, replenish the blue, top up the sink, ensure that there are two toilet rolls and hand towels in their respective dispensers and clean the surrounding area of the toilet. Before I leave I take a photo on my app and get a signature from somebody on site.
Should I encounter any access issues whilst on my route I firstly get out of the van and see if I can see anybody who can help remove the obstruction, failing that I will phone the customer to see if they’re on site today and if there’s any way that I can get in, maybe via a gate code. If these steps don’t resolve the issue I will call the office and inform them of the issue and before I depart I will take a photo on my app to show the obstruction and write in the comments box why I couldn’t gain access to the toilet. Once I have completed all of my jobs I attend the most convenient Thames Water Sewage Works to dispose of the waste from my tank. Before entering site I ensure that I am wearing full PPE; hard hat, goggles, hi-vis, long sleeves and long trousers.
Upon my return to the yard I ensure that I have all of my stock for the following day and that my vehicle is full of water, diesel and is ready to go for the following day.

What Do You Enjoy About The Role?
‘I enjoy this role because it is always varied, I encounter different issues every day and no two days are the same. I also enjoy the interactions with the customers, some of whom I get to know very well as I am a regular visitor to their site. I take great pride in my work and get a real satisfaction in keeping my toilets in good working order all year round.’
