As everyone knows, we love toilets, which is why we are celebrating World Toilet Day 2016. The 19th November every year is a chance to raise awareness and money for those around the world who do not have access to a safe, private place to go to the loo.
Did you know?
- 2.3 billion people – around one in three of the world’s population – don’t have a safe, clean, private toilet.
- Last year World Toilet Day helped three million people gain access to toilets.
- Around 315,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation – that’s almost 900 children a day.
- For every £1 invested in sanitation, there’s an average return of £3 in improved productivity. People’s health is improved, fewer days are lost to illness, and girls stay on at school for longer.
This year WaterAid have launched not-your-bog-standard Comedy Quiz to support the cause and raise money as well as awareness of the 2.3 billion people who live without access to a safe toilet.
It is fair to say will be running our own Comedy Quiz to support the charity and to celebrate World Toilet Day 2016.
