Every year Pride Month is celebrated throughout June in honour of the LGBTQIA+ community. At Site Equip, we support and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community in every way we can.
Pride month is a celebration to acknowledge how far the LGBTQIA+ community have come since 1969, as well as, to campaign and raise awareness of the issues and prejudice the community is still facing.
We understand that changing our logos to show our support is not enough. Site Equip believe that this month is a call to action for all to be allies and actively embrace and work towards a positive change.
Therefore, we are fundraising for our LQBTQIA+ chosen charity this month which is The Outside Project which are the first LGBTIQIA+ Community Shelter, Centre and Domestic Abuse Refuge in London.
The Outside Project runs a homeless and crisis shelter to provide a safe space for those who feel endangered or are homeless. They aim to advocate for the LQBTQIA+ community whilst sharing their knowledge to educate and promote a safe and empowered lifestyle.
Why is it important to support Pride Month?
- Over a third of LGBTQ+ staff in the UK have hidden their sexual orientation or gender identity at work due to fear of discrimination.
- 1 in 8 trans people have been physically attacked by customers/colleagues in the last year for being trans.
- Nearly 40% of bi people aren’t out to anyone at work about their sexual orientation.
How we support our allyship with the LGBTQ+
